Ragnarok Odyssey ACE is a 3D Ragnarok Online game released for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. It is also available to play on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 via PlayStation Plus, which emulates the Playstation 3 version of the game. It extends the gameplay of the original game, Ragnarok Odyssey, which was also released on the PlayStation Vita and allowed cross-play between PS Vita and PS3.

Game

Added content

ACE features a variety of added content in comparison to Ragnarok Odyssey as well as included all of the original DLC from Ragnarok Odyssey:

• Tower of Yggdrasil - An area featuring 400 floors of procedurally generated content, as well as online content (which has since been discontinued)
• Mercenary System - Adds the ability for players to recruit mercenaries in place of players given lack of an online feature.
• New giants (bosses) - Loli Ruri (Ragnarok Odyssey Ace) and Lord of Death (Ragnarok Odyssey Ace) were added along with other monsters.
• ACE Skills - New item drops are added for monsters which can be equipped to add new skills.
• Save Import - allows original save data to be transferred over from the original Ragnarok Odyssey game including character appearance, weapon and monster cards.
• Additional quests, weapons and items were also added.

Expansions/DLC

ACE featured several downloadable content packs, some of them available on day-one and later provided an expansion "Prison of The Gods".

Day-one DLC

A day-one DLC pack which offered 12 DLC packs which were mainly cosmetic items from the original Ragnarok Odyssey game. 7 of the day-one DLC was available for free to those who had purchased it in Ragnarok Odyssey and for those who did not, were available at $0.99 USD:

• Archer's Apple
• Bunny Hair Band
• Floppy Cat
• Gunslinger
• Majestic Horns
• Ninja
• Taekwon Kid

The following DLC items were added to ACE:

• Royal Ball Outfit ($0.99 USD)
• Gorgeous Headwear Set ($2.99 USD)
• Grandia Set (Free)
  • Incudes armor and hair pieces from the Game Arts title "Grandia" for the protagonists Justin and Feena.
  • Includes 5 music tracks from the Grandia game.
• Ragnarok Odyssey Collection
  • Marketed as including "10 armor items and 115 tracks from the original Ragnarok Odyssey", however this would not classify as DLC as it was just content moved over from Odyssey to ACE.

Free DLC

For the nine weeks following the launch of Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, free DLC was released including crossovers with several other non-Gravity IPs such as Tales Of Symphonia, Dead of Alive, Gravity RUSH, SOUL SACRIFICE and Akiba's Trip, as well as Gravity MMORPG Emil Chronicle Online and GungHo properties Princess Punt Sweets.

• Week 1
  • Tales Of Symphonia Set - Costumes for TOS characters Collet Brunel and Lloyd Irving and card which reduces HP and SP consumption in Dansleif mode.
  • Giant King Mask - Giant regal mask
  • Ephemeral Swimsuit - A swimsuit
• Week 2
  • Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Set - Costumes for DoA characters Kasumi and Ryu Hayabusa. Incl;udes special cards which give the player "Martial Arts Instruction" skill to boost damage of regular attacks and reduce AP consumption.
  • Mokkurkalfe Doll - A doll of the mini-boss Mokkurkalfe worn on the head.
  • Norn's Ribbon - A pear of bunny ears with ribbon worn on the head.
• Week 3
  • Quests Blade of the Inhuman and Blade Of The Inhuman 2 were added which when completed added Halomonas weapons to the smithy.
  • Gravity Rush Set - Costumes for gravity rush characters Kat and Alias, and includes special cards which improve aerial maneuverability and Dansleif mode.
  • Big Bell - An oversized bell accessory.
  • Flower of a Beauty - A headgear accessory which adds a rose between the player's teeth.
• Week 4
  • SOUL SACRIFICE Set - Includes two costumes from the SOUL SACRIFICE series - Noble Raiment and Sorcerer's Hood, and adds a new card which gives the player the "Survival of The Fittest" skill, which powers up Dansleif mode but at a cost.
  • Gagap Tentacle - A tentacle-shaped headgear
  • Homesick Sakura - A headgear of the flower of the same name.
• Week 5
  • Emil Chronicle Online Set - Includes a number of outfits from the Gravity MMORPG Emil Chronicle Online including a bear outfit, and adds a special card which gives the player the "Tiny Go For Walkies?!" skill. Also includes 5 musical tracks from the game.
  • Cool Sunglasses - A headgear pair of sunglasses.
  • Ancient Tiara - A headgear tiara item.
• Week 6
  • Puzzle & Dragons - A bicorned helmet from the same game.
  • Great Sage Hat - A conical wizard-style helmet.
  • Silk Hat - A magician's hat.
• Week 7
  • Quests The Kiss of Ennui and The Kiss Of Ennui 2 were added. Both quests became available after the user has progressed a reasonable distance in the story before being made available. When completed, a reward was provided to the player (not specified what the reward was).
  • Princess Punt Sweets Set - Provides a Dinocorn Helmet from the game, and also provides four musical tracks from the game.
  • Thief Head Kerchief - A handkerchief headwear worn on the head.
  • Yggdrasil Holy Helm - A silver armor-style headgear.
• Week 8
  • Track suit - A sports tracksuit.
  • Zealot's Hood - A headgear with a shrouded shadow and glowing eyes.
  • Pepo Pumpkin Hood - A haloween pumpkin-styled headgear.
• Week 9
  • Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed Set - Adds outfits for protagonists Nanashi and Shizuku from the Akiba's Trip game and a special card boosting combat power.
  • Special Weapon Set - Various weapons "granting the protection of the Odd God".
  • Soldier Skeleton Set - Outfit, headgear (skull) and card based on the monster of the same name.
  • Noble Clothing Set - Includes a frilly hat headgear, "a splendid dress" for female characters and "a sharp military dress uniform" for male characters and a special card (not specified).

Prison Of The Gods expansion

On 26 August 2014, the "Prison Of The Gods" expansion was released on PSN, which included a number of internet-enabled features required an internet connection to the Prison Of The Gods server, including:

• A customisable Boss Rush mode allowing the player to set up a series of customisable battles and win rewards.
• New ACE skills (not explained which skills are added)
• Daily quests and login bonuses
• An online ranking board showing players results for the Boss Rush mode and vie for the title of "world's strongest mercenary".
• New monster cards (not explained which)
• Purchase of "Emperium Shard" items.

The update also included 3 new outfits:

• Absolute Destroyer Zero Set - A suit of armor and crown made of ice.
• Crimson Menace Set - A suit and two helmets made of lava
• Gods and Pirates Set - Two helmets of the gods, and a pirate captain's hat.

The "Prison Of The Gods" feature was shut down on April 16, 2015 at 5pm. The related service for purchasing Emperium Shards was closed on March 9, 2015.

Soundtrack

The Ragnarok Odyssey ACE soundtrack was released on Compact Disc (CD) on 29 August 2013 in the United States, featuring compositions predominantly from Japanese composer Kumi Tanioka, but also featured individual tracks from composer Keigo Ozaki and Nobuo Uematsu, known for his work on the Final Fantasy series. The Launch Edition of Ragnarok Odyssey Ace included a copy of the album, and it was also sold separately by XSEED Games.
